COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new bill at the Ohio Statehouse aims to bring public schools across the state into a unified effort to prevent and stop the human trafficking of children.
State Rep. Josh Williams (R- Sylvania Twp.) just introduced House Bill 431 to require human trafficking screening in public schools.
"Our state has consistently ranked in the top five to 10% in human trafficking overall," Williams told 10TV in an interview. "My home city of Toledo consistently ranks in the top five as it relates to juvenile sex trafficking. I think it's important that we provide safety and security to our families knowing that our children are not at risk of being human trafficked here in the state of Ohio."
