LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A University of Louisville student is facing serious charges after police say he tried to kidnap a university employee.
Police say 20-year-old Thomas Hood grabbed the employee outside the University Tower Apartments on campus Monday morning while armed with a large knife.
Documents say he chased the victim into the apartment building. She ran inside and locked herself in the basement until officers arrived.
She told police he kept trying to get into the basement.
Hood was later arrested outside of Louisville Hall, allegedly still carrying the knife.
Students on campus said the incident was unsettling, especially given how close it was to where they live, learn, and work.
