Nanaimo RCMP say one man was taken to hospital and four people were arrested – including three youths – following a violent robbery over the weekend.

Mounties say they were called to the 6400 block of Portsmouth Road around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a stabbing and vehicle theft.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, told police that he was standing near his car when he was approached by the group.

“An altercation occurred, which resulted in the victim being stabbed. The suspects then fled in his vehicle,” said Nanaimo RCMP in a release Wednesday.

The man was then taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Mounties say they searched the area and found the victim’s vehicle and the suspects approximately one hour after the stabbing occurred.
