RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The jackpot for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing has increased yet again, reaching an estimated $1.4 billion.

The drawing will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 3, after the total increased to $1.3 billion on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

On Wednesday morning, the jackpot for the Powerball drawing increased to an estimated $1.4 billion after one Virginian won $1 million and two others won $150,000 each.

According to a Sept. 3 release from the Virginia Lottery, an estimated $3.7 million worth of Powerball tickets are expected to be purchased on Wednesday alone in the state.

At peak times, such as early in the evening, officials said they will be selling at more than 3,700 Powerball tickets per minute across Virginia.
