LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Eight Circuit Solicitor’s Office said a man has been sentenced to prison following a deadly crash that took place in 2024 in Laurens County.
On Wednesday, Nazar Pirus was set to appear in court for reckless homicide resulting in death within three years caused by injury from vehicle.
According to an arrest warrant, Pirus was driving a tractor trailer on the eastbound of I-26 when his “reckless disregard for others’ safety” caused him to crash with another vehicle that was stopped in the road due to a previous crash on Dec. 11, 2024.
Officials said the trial turned into a plea hearing on Wednesday. Pirus pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years in prison under the Youthful Offender Act with credit for the 265 days he already served.
