A person has been rushed to hospital after a lorry crashed through a barrier on the M8 in Glasgow .
Emergency services raced to the busy motorway, near Junction 22 for Plantation, after the alarm was raised at around 2.20pm on Wednesday.
A picture taken from the scene showed the huge emergency response after the HGV appeared to go through a central reservation.
Fire crews rescued a casualty from a vehicle following the crash before they were blue-lighted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment . Their condition currently remains unknown.
Three lanes of the M8 were closed eastbound, including the feeder road towards the M74, following the incident.
Huge delays were reported during rush hour as a result, including queues of up to 40 minutes.
