Melissa Rancourt has resigned from the Greater Sudbury Police Service, prompting an end to an Ontario Police Services Act hearing.

Rancourt was undergoing a disciplinary hearing for alleged misconduct related to an incident at the hockey arena in Espanola.

“Const. Melisa Rancourt has resigned from the Greater Sudbury Police Service, effective Aug. 31,” Kaitlyn Dunn, a spokesperson for the police service, told The Star on Tuesday. “As she is no longer a police officer, we no longer have jurisdiction under the Police Services Act, therefore the PSA tribunal has concluded.”

Supt. Cyril Gillis of the Durham Regional Police Service was overseeing the hearing.
