TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — What's driving you crazy this week? HAWK lights!
"People don't use the HAWK lights correctly," said a viewer. "Cars stop even if the light isn't activated. Or cyclists don't use the light to safely cross."
HAWK lights are street lights positioned before intersections to assist pedestrians in crossing safely. The system is activated when a pedestrian presses the button, causing the light to flash yellow, then turn red.
Drivers are advised to slow down when the light flashes yellow, signaling that a pedestrian is about to cross. When the light turns red, vehicles must come to a complete stop.
