The Emporia High Spartans’ soccer team season has kicked off, and it kicked off with a rivalry matchup. They would face the Seaman Vikings on home turf and beat them 3-1 after a three-goal second half.
Coming into the year, the Spartans were looking to right the wrongs of last year and focused on being consistent . To start the game, both teams looked like they had the first game jitters, as there were plenty of turnovers and chances to score for both teams that were not capitalized on. Head Coach Victor Ibarra wasn’t worried about the first half, however.
“We are not expecting perfection; we are wanting to make sure there is a certain growth to our team,” Ibarra said. “There are going to be inconsistencies, there’s going to be a lot of growing pains, but ultimately we've got to be abl
