EUSTIS, Maine — A third woman has died following a weekend boating crash on Flagstaff Lake. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were injured in the incident, authorities said.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the upper reaches of Flagstaff Lake. A group of seven people were on a pontoon boat near the Cathedral Pines Campground beach when the boat’s bow began to dip underwater, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said.
The sinking boat then flipped, throwing all seven people into the lake. Witnesses onshore and nearby rushed to help and brought everyone back to land, according to officials.
