CHESTERTON, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Shore Line says it will let first responders ride for free for a limited time starting this weekend.

The rail line is inviting all doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement and other medical personnel to ride the train free of charge from Saturday, Sept. 6, through Thursday, Sept. 11, on all westbound and eastbound weekday and weekend trains.

To ride free, you must present a valid work ID to South Shore Line train personnel that shows you are employed at a hospital, doctor’s office, medical facility, fire department, police station, prison or related agency.
