For the first time since 2005, Phillipsburg will play a Pennsylvania team other than Easton in football in 2026.
The Stateliners will travel to Emmaus for their season opener – it would be week 3 for the Green Hornets – in 2026 while Emmaus will visit Maloney Stadium in 2027.
The move became possible when the EPC went away from a closed conference schedule and P’burg head coach Frank Duffy wanted to take advantage of that. P’burg had played in the old East Penn Conference until leaving after the 1994-1995.
“What I wanted was to open the season with an (Eastern Pennsylvania Conference) team,” Duffy said. “We talked to Freedom, Nazareth, Parkland and Emmaus and we were able to work it out with Emmaus. We are lucky to have them and everyone thinks it’s great.”
