GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Mark Bissell is stepping down as chairman and CEO of BISSELL Inc., the Walker-based home cleaning products company his family founded in 1876.

Bissell, the fourth generation-member of his family to lead the company, will transition away from day-to-day operations at BISSELL Inc. on Sept. 15. He will take on the role of executive chairman, a position in which he’ll focus on strategy and planning, the company said.

“The Bissell family will continue to have a daily role in operations, with Max Bissell and Matt Kruer as key members on the executive team,” the company said in a statement. “BISSELL is well-positioned for a smooth transition and continued growth as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2026 as a family-owned global business right here in Grand Rapids.”
