Gov. Joe Lombardo has been sent three finalists from the State Board of Education to select the best candidate for the top K-12 education job in Nevada, the state superintendent of public instruction.
It’s a big-time decision for the state’s chief executive. No exaggeration intended. The governor’s choice will have a significant impact on the direction and well-being of Nevada’s education system, and thus our future.
I don’t have to tell you about the troubling status of education in America, as well as in Nevada, that has not been all that good as of late. No need to harp on, or paint another picture of the reasons for the nation’s classroom decline.
Suffice it to say — we need to start changing the way we have been approaching education.
