BISMARCK — North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong has appointed Sherry Adams to serve on the governor's cabinet as the state's next state health officer beginning Sept. 15.

The state health officer advises local public health officials, promotes the development of local health services and finds ways to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

According to a Wednesday, Sept. 3, release, Adams will continue to serve in her role with the Dickinson-based Southwestern District Health Unit while fulfilling her duties as state health officer on a part-time basis.
