PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A police sergeant was hospitalized after being hit by a car in north Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

An on-duty police sergeant was in the area of 32nd Street and Sweetwater Avenue , north of Cactus Road, when he was struck by a vehicle at about 11:15 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Phoenix fire crews arrived and took the sergeant and driver of the vehicle to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers are still working on what led up to the crash.
