Glendale resident Stacy Damitio started a Change.org petition to stop the relocation of around 100 peafowl now living around Sahuaro Ranch Park and the Glendale Main Library, following a City Council consensus to humanely remove the birds at an Aug. 12 workshop.
As of Sept. 4 the petition , titled “Stop the relocation of the Sahuaro Ranch Park peacocks,” has 2,943 signatures. Peafowl is the catch-all term that refers to both peacocks and peahens.
The decision on relocating all but 30 or 40 of the peafowl is not listed as an planned agenda item for either the Sept. 9 of Sept. 23 voting meetings.
“These peacocks are part of our ecosystem and have coexisted peacefully with the residents and park-goers for generations. Removing them could disrupt this balance and take away the charm that
