CHAPIN, S.C. (WIS) - Leaders in Chapin could take a step Thursday toward changing an ordinance at the center of a federal lawsuit.
Chapin Town Council is holding a special meeting at 5 p.m. The only agenda item is the first reading for an ordinance “amending the Town Code of the Town of Chapin to repeal and replace Chapter 14, Article X - Parades. Demonstrations. Picketing.”
In the proposed revised ordinance, the town would no longer require a permit for picketing for groups “of not more than 2 individuals on a sidewalk or on the grounds of a Town-controlled park or plaza, or in other Town-owned areas or rights-of-way normally used or reserved for pedestrian movement.”
Groups of two or more would still be required to apply for a permit.
