QUINCY (WGEM) - The City of Quincy agreed to take control of a stretch of road from Adams County.
The city of Quincy took the first of three steps to get control of a stretch of road on Seminary Road back into its official control.
“Originally, the city found out they had jurisdiction about a year or so ago,” said City Engineering Manager Steve Bange.
The city had assumed it had been in control of the streets for several decades, but a closer look at the maps found it never actually was.
“The state IDOT has on their records shown that the transfer never took place,” Bange added.
According to a release by the city, two major projects were undertaken by the city, which totaled over half a million dollars. Therefore, the deal also includes a $650,000 transfer from the county to the city.
