As we wrap up summer and head into fall during a dry stretch, local fire officials are considering the possibility of another fall brush fire season.
Last fall, hundreds of acres burned in multiple communities during an abnormal stretch of dry weather from the end of October into November.

The Hawthorne Fire was the biggest in Berlin.
“It’s hard in New England not to be out now, this is like our glory time,” Alice Pentz said.
She was on a walk in Middletown and noted it is hard not to notice the dry conditions.
“We spend a lot landscaping and it’s just drying up and it’s sad to see,” she said.
