CROWN POINT — Unsealed court records show a 34-year-old man has been charged in the deadly July shooting of two men in their vehicle as they were headed out of town.

Alex Russell, of Gary, was charged Aug. 5 with two counts of murder in the deaths of Dante Givens, 37, and Deon Stewart, 36. Russell was also charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, unlawful carrying of a handgun, misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a handgun and driving while suspended. U.S. Marshals arrested him Friday.
