LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Downtown business owners in Laredo will get a reprieve after city officials voted to cancel the current version of the vacant building ordinance.
The decision came during a recent City Council meeting, where council members discussed the ordinance, which had drawn attention from local property owners and business operators over the past few months.
Justin Heather, chair of the Downtown Business Improvement District, spoke in support of the move. “I rise only to support this matter because I do believe that we have certain conversations with the city and, as you’ve seen, I think this is the third City Council meeting the public is very interested in this ordinance, and so I think it would only be beneficial for downtown,” Heather said.
