BOSTON (WWLP) - Massachusetts is considering a new bill that would create a Climate Change Superfund, requiring fossil fuel suppliers to pay for their environmental impact.

The proposed legislation, known as the 'polluters pay' act, aims to impose fees on major polluters, such as fossil fuel companies, to fund a superfund designed to mitigate climate change impacts. The bill would require these companies to pay for damages caused from 1995 to 2024, with the fees determined through a public process utilizing attribution science.
