ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A kitchen fire in a Rochester home on Wednesday evening sent one person to Strong Memorial Hospital with burn injuries, authorities said.

Rochester Fire Department crews responded to the fire on Elwood Drive at approximately 5:30 p.m. and got the fire under control in under 10 minutes.

The person injured was believed to be the only person in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to exit the home on their own before receiving care from first responders and being transported to the hospital. The severity of their injuries is not yet known.

No firefighters were reported injured during the response. Authorities said the home’s residents will likely require alternate housing due to fire damage.
