NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Craven County Sheriff Maj. David McFadyen has announced that he plans to retire by late September, answering a question he says he’s been asked a lot.
“I run into people I know or people that I don’t know, and they say, ‘When are you going to retire?’ I mean 26 years of DA, 13 years as a private practice, and seven years of this,” McFadyen said.
The Craven County native has been serving his community for over 46 years.
His journey began when he was 26, working as an assistant for the district attorney, and two years later, in 1981, he became the District Attorney for Craven, Carteret, and Pamlico Counties.
