BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A Long Beach man accused of raping a person then stealing their vehicle in downtown Bakersfield was arraigned on six felony counts Wednesday.

Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of Javier Pizarro Quintero, 38. He's due back in court next week.

He's being held on no bail.

On Aug. 29, officers responding to a report of a vehicle theft learned the victim had been sexually assaulted and robbed before their vehicle was stolen, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release.

They determined the vehicle was near the Outlets at Tejon and contacted sheriff’s deputies, who detained Quintero, police said. Detectives with BPD's special victims unit then arrived and took him into custody.
