A school and nursery were on alert following reports of a 'threat' being made on Wednesday (September 3).

An email appearing to be from Shavington Academy sent to parents and carers and shared with the M.E.N, indicated that a 'security threat' had been made in the area near Crewe in Cheshire and that the school building had been secured as a precaution.

A local nursery owner also issued a statement online saying they had been informed of the incident and that 'extra precautions were put in place' following the incident.

There was speculation on social media that the 'threat' had originated in the Manchester area and was made to a nearby nursery. However, Cheshire Police later issued
