TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Imagine coming to a new country, not really understanding English, never playing football, and in four years time, you’ve become a top student and earned a scholarship to play college football.

That’s Artem Korchagin, and before he gets to that next level, he’s looking to finish strong at Thomas County Central.

“He enrolled in and the guidance counselor saw him,” said head coach Justin Rogers. “If you look at him, he looks like a football player.”

“I’m not going to say they made me, but everybody was talking about you should try out!” laughed Korchagin. “You’re going to be great!”

Korchagin had never played football before, as he moved to Thomasville from Russia after his father took a job in the city.
