WOODLAND, Calif. —

A more than 150-year-old funeral home in Woodland is at the center of a lawsuit.

The Yolo County District Attorney's office filed the lawsuit, alleging the funeral directors of Kraft Brothers and McNary's mortuary took advantage of grieving families of 997 deceased for years.

Generations of Yolo County families have been trusting their loved ones' burials with Kraft Brothers since 1862.

Current owners and funeral directors Paul and Lailene Wiggins are named in that lawsuit.

"I'm just appalled at what we're having to go through now," said Janice McDaniel.

Following her sister's wishes, McDaniel made funeral arrangements through Kraft Brothers with her sister's prepaid burial insurance.

"She took it out in April of '07, and she paid for it all," McDaniel said.
