IONE, Calif. —
Ione Elementary School in Amador County closed Wednesday after a flea infestation was discovered in the backside portables of the campus.
Families received a series of emails on Sept. 2 from both Ione Elementary and the Amador County Unified School District about the discovery and next steps.
In photos obtained by KCRA, both the district and school notified parents about the next steps and eventual closure on short notice.
Ronnie Gould, a parent of two children attending the school, said her son was affected by the situation.
"I picked him up, and the message went out and asked him like, 'Hey, how was school today?' He said it was good. He said that his class ended up moving to the cafeteria, I believe, for the remainder of some time, because one of the kids in his clas
