MOORHEAD — North Dakota State University football has officially kicked off, and one former Bison running back is helping to strengthen lives by building on a family loss.

Moorhead native Chase Morlock picked up more than 2,000 scrimmage yards from 2013 to 2016, earning all-conference honors as a senior. But that same season, tragedy struck when his father, Paul, died of colorectal cancer at age 52.

Morlock was driven to open a gym after the loss. "I'm just blessed to walk in here every day and do what I do," he said.
