ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Brent Hinds, the co-founder of Atlanta-based heavy metal band Mastodon, was at fault in the motorcycle crash that took his life last month, according to police.

On the night of Aug. 20, Hinds’ Harley Davidson collided with a BMW SUV at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Boulevard, Atlanta police said.

Hinds, 51, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Shortly after the crash, Atlanta police said in their preliminary report that the driver of the SUV failed to yield while making a left at the intersection. She then collided with Hinds, who was traveling on Boulevard, police said at the time.
