Two young men have been arrested in connection with an assault near Gallagher Beach last month that attracted wide attention on social media, the Buffalo Police Department announced Wednesday.

Louis Bodine, 20, of Buffalo, has been charged with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, and third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony. Ryland Schloerb , 21, of the City of Tonawanda, faces charges of second-degree assault, a Class D felony, and third-degree criminal mischief.

Police said Bodine was arrested Aug. 5 and Scholerb was taken into custody Aug. 19 after suspects were identified through an investigation by detectives.
