CLEVELAND, Ohio - A 54-year-old Cleveland man was fatally shot Friday evening on the city’s East Side, police said.

The office of the Cuyahoga County medical examiner identified the victim as Denny Garrett, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Cleveland police responded to reports of a shooting about 7:15 p.m. on Mound Avenue, near East 55th Street.

Officers provided first aid to Garrett before emergency medical services transported him to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died.

Cleveland homicide detectives are investigating. Police have not said whether anyone was arrested in the incident.
