SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - States are getting millions of dollars from opioid settlements. One Missouri community is using that money to make a lasting impact.
“Our community is not well designed for walking or biking,” said Dent County Health Department Administrator Zach Moser.
People living in Dent County say they have limited means when it comes to transportation.
We don’t have a cab company. We have things like SMTS, which provides more medical transportation. But we don’t have an option for people who just want to go to Walmart or just need to go to their job, or go to court so that they don’t make their situation worse," explained Moser.
He says his team had transportation in mind when deciding what to do with $56,000 in grant money received by the county due to the opioid settlem
