BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Federal changes to SNAP benefits are leaving millions of Americans in a lurch.

It’s estimated that some 2.4 million Americans will not have the same food assistance resources this month as they did last month.

Advocates point to changes to work requirements implemented by the trump administration.

Previously excluded groups like veterans, the homeless, and people who turned 18 in foster care now must work to qualify for SNAP.

Noncitizens also no longer qualify, though there are some exceptions.
