BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly approaching children outside a Battle Creek library and attempting to lure them into his vehicle.

Police responded to Willard Library around 3:30 p.m. when library staff called to report a suspicious man outside. He had been talking to children and trying to get them into his vehicle, according to police.

The children were "alarmed" by the man, police say, and ran inside the library.

The man, a 67-year-old from the Otsego area, was taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail. He was charged with child enticement and attempted unlawful imprisonment.

Investigators say additional charges could be added as the investigation continues.
