Millions of mobile phones across the UK are set to emit an emergency alert this weekend. This is part of a nationwide test designed to alert the public in case of an emergency situation.
Brits may be taken by surprise as their mobiles suddenly sound a siren and vibrate for approximately 10 seconds at about 3pm on Sunday, September 7.
All eyes will be on the effectiveness of the test this time, following initial issues when it was first attempted in 2023.
On that occasion, some individuals received alerts multiple times, while others didn't receive them at all. Some alerts arrived early, and others later than planned.
The Government is hoping for a much smoother test this time. There may be confusion or even panic when mobiles sound on Sunday afternoon, reports Birmingham Live .
