LAKE NORMAN (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A small wastewater overflow reached Lake Norman this week, according to Charlotte Water crews.

The incident occurred near 18000 Whispering Oaks Drive on September 3, when a damaged low-pressure pipe led to a spill. According to Charlotte Water, out of 95 gallons of wastewater that overflowed, an estimated 49 gallons made it into the lake.

Charlotte Water said the damaged pipe in this system caused the overflow.

Here’s what Charlotte Water has recommended: • Toss in the trash: paper towels, wipes, hair, cotton swabs, feminine products, dental floss, coffee grounds, and excess food •
