LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin Panthers are still looking for their first win in the Carl Abseck era as they travel to Nacogdoches Friday night.

KTRE Sports Director Ryan Smith spoke with Abseck Wednesday on the Red Zone preview show.

Abseck says Nacogdoches is talented and can present some issues.

“They’ve got some receivers that are tall and can go up and get it,” said Abseck. “They’ve got some youth that you hopefully exploit a little bit with their experience, but overall they’re just a good athletic team that’s going to play hard and get after it.”

Micah Lockett is the defending 5A state champion for Nacogdoches in high jump. Abseck says the team needs to pressure the quarterback to help out the secondary.
