As I write this, educators across Western New York are readying their classrooms, libraries and facilities for another school year.
This was one of my favorite times of the year. As teachers, we also got to start brand new. I always tried to look back at what went well and what didn’t go so well to plan for the upcoming year. These plans were curricular as well as behavioral.
As long as there have been schools, there have been classroom rules (sometimes referred to as “classroom norms” now). Some educators have a list of rules for their classrooms which they create themselves. Some have their students work with them to make the rules to help the students feel as if they are true stakeholders in classroom management.
