Scam: Parkgate Oval

On Aug. 6, a Parkgate Oval resident called police about a harassment issue.

The man reported being scammed through a dating app. He said he thought he was chatting with a woman, who requested a nude photo.

After he complied, the suspect instantly demanded $500 through Cashapp or they would share the compromising photo with his family and friends.

The Cashapp transaction didn’t work, so instead he sent screenshots of gift cards.

That’s when the man realized he was at the very least being harassed and more likely being scammed.

There are no suspects. Police are investigating.
