The Huntsville Police Department says four months of work paid off Tuesday when its Anti-Crime Team shut down a prescription drug operation across Huntsville and Madison County.

According to Huntsville Police, officers recovered prescription medication valued at more than $45,000, more than $72,000 in cash, and three firearms.

A Huntsville man, 71-year-old Vernon Hereford, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
