With Santa Maria’s population — currently estimated at 112,000 — is expected to grow by up to 30,000 residents by 2040.

To meet service needs for the growing population, the City is exploring updating development impact fees, one-time charges assessed on new development to help fund the infrastructure needed to support the growth.

A public workshop aimed at offering the public an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on proposed updates to the City’s development impact fees will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. in Shepard Hall at the Santa Maria Public Library.

Hosted by the Department of Public Works, the workshop is part of the City’s public review process to gather community input on the proposed fee adjustments.
