Citing injuries to over half of its nearly 40-player roster, Shady Side Academy informed Clairton it would not play in Friday night’s scheduled matchup.
The decision comes less than a week after Clairton defeated Serra Catholic 79-0.
According to a statement from Shady Side on Thursday afternoon, the WPIAL has stepped in and provided a notice of possible penalties if the game isn’t played. Regardless, Shady Side remains steadfast in its decision to postpone.
