The country’s disability minister faced concerns about the risk of benefits reforms after protesters took over a hotel to campaign against the Department of Work and Pensions.

Earlier this year, protesters took over a hotel in Manchester where DWP consultants were discussing the government’s incoming benefits reforms. The proposed cuts included changes to the personal independence payment (PIP), carer’s allowance, and universal credit.

Today (September 4), during a visit to Oldham , the Minister for Social Security and Disability Sir Stephen Timms told the Manchester Evening News that 46,000 people responded to a consultation about the controversial reforms.
