A PlayStation Network blackout has seen thousands of gamers shut out of online play this evening.

The service is used by more than 120 million people around the world to play popular online games such as Helldivers, Fortnite, and Rocket League

However in the last hour, PlayStation users have reported problems.

Gamers have complained about issues with gameplay and logging in.

Many have also said they were struggling to access PSN servers, the Mirror reports.

Several of those reporting issues online claimed they were experiencing problems with parties - a PSN feature that allows people to connect and play with others.

One report stated: "Can't see friends nor party chat."
