PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Boxing Hall of Famer and Pensacola local Roy Jones Jr. was handed the 1988 Olympic gold medal by former competitor and winner, Park Si-Hun of South Korea.

Park won the match by a 3-2 vote, despite the 50 fewer punches thrown than Jones, and walked away from the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games as a gold medalist. However, the controversial win has never sat right with him.

"[Park] didn't tally up the score cards, he didn't make the decision, he didn't announce the fact that he won," Jones Jr. said. "He was out there with me; we had no control of what they did."

About two years ago, Jones received a call that Park wanted to make things right. Park had travelled all the way from South Korea to Jones' home gym in Pensacola to deliver not only the news, but the medal.
