LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- City leaders unveiled the new Downtown Las Vegas Civic Center and Plaza Thursday morning, consolidating community resources and services in one central location.

“Most cities in the United States have a civic plaza; now the city of Las Vegas has one,” Mayor Shelley Berkley said.

The new $190 million complex spans an entire block in downtown Las Vegas, bringing together city hall, the municipal court, and two new office buildings, with 250,000 square feet of lease space. More than 1,000 city employees are now under one roof – a move Berkley said will save the city money in the long run.

"Bringing everybody under one roof and ending the leases where we were in many, many different buildings across the city, that will be a cost savings,” Berkley said.
