MONTGOMERY, Ala. (TRIBUNE) — Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter are suing the Alabama High School Athletic Association over a rule that requires student-athletes who transfer schools using CHOOSE Act funds to sit out of athletics for one year.

The complaint, filed Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court, seeks a declaratory judgment and injunctive relief, arguing the AHSAA’s policy violates state law.
